This could have been it. At this point the data is fully lost though, as I killed the container completely.

Nah, the container had an external volume for storage. That’s one of the first things I checked.
I believe the server purged them for space? Not really sure tbh.
I currently have a love hate relationship with it, but that’s mostly because of issues outside of paperless. I had been uploading to my server automatically with Nextcloud, and processing the files with paperless as they came in. Next thing I know, all the files are gone and none of the documents are available in paperless any longer, just the OCR translations that… leave something to be desired sometimes.
I’ve scrapped the whole thing in the short term, and will likely try again in the long term. Just need to find the time.
Wouldn’t that last bullet mean you’re not updating the windows machines whatsoever? Would this not cause more security issues in the long run, considering “connected tot he internet” isn’t a requirement to spread an infection.
Two things:
I honestly dont see how mail can be reliably self hosted, and be accepted by the majority of filters. Especially as we move farther and farther into the world of limited IPv4 availability.
All it takes is for your IP to be listed as spam, and a large number of companies out there are going to put you in junk, or worse drop you completely.
Add on top of that the issue of reliability, and I just can’t fathom hosting myself. It makes much more sense to me for email to be one of the only things you do third party.
Honestly, they likely also suggest this in an attempt at privacy. For all their other faults, Apple has always championed security and privacy.
Makes sense. The one that pops into mind is Auvik, and I was trying to register as auvik@mydomain.com.
I’ve run into services that won’t let you use the name of their service in your email. They assume it’s is their email because they don’t look for .*@servicename\.com$
they look for .*servicename.*
.
How so? It’s all of github, and even has an esphome flavor.
Look into ratgdo. No need to replace the whole unit, and a much cheaper solution overall.
Dude I’d kill for that availability. Here, the companies own the infrastructure, and can offer to let others use it if they’d like but that doesn’t usually happen.
You say that as if most don’t hold a monopoly in their available regions. At least in America, you typically have the choice of one, maybe more if you’re in a largeish city, and I suppose you have the option of a 5G hub but that’s terrible for running services.
Isnt there a tool developed by the AdGuard team to handle exactly this?
Just looked through my files, look into this tool, it does exactly what you want: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/HostlistCompiler
Which makes no difference in the provided example.
I think it’s more of an issue with what the car does with that data. Is it communicated to you in some way, or sent to headquarters to be added to your file for future sale?
If it’s the former, no harm no foul. If it’s the latter, it needs to be burnt with fire.
This is… annoying. I get the intent for malware, but honestly it’s a BS reason. The content will just be uploaded elsewhere. But what this will do is drastically lower their storage cost under the guise of… not even user safety, more “slightly inconveniencing malware writers.”
I wouldn’t suggest a dying laptop battery as a UPS, especially if it’s old. You’re just asking for a spicy pillow in a never observed, enclosed area.
